Growing up in the proximity of hills, forests and lush green landscape which then gave way to a concrete jungle was a major influence in Jayashree’s art works. She depicts the old and the new cityscapes, the occasional bird, a broken window, bent trees or a brick wall emerging from a mossy texture. Her paintings are autobiographical and dream-like and she often experiments with different organic materials like rice paper, tissue and cellophane to create fluid and transparent images and installations.
